Horowhenua District Council has appointed Higgins Contractors Limited to install a new sewer main and water main on York Street.
Closure of Salisbury Street
Due to ongoing works on York Street, the northern end of Salisbury Street will be closed from 15 to 18 July 2024. During this time, the crew will connect the sewer on Clark Street on 15 July.
Water Shutdown
Additionally, due to a detected leak around the valve on Salisbury Street, a full water shutdown will be necessary to fix the leak and make the necessary connections.
Date: Tuesday, 16 July 2024
Time: 9am - 5pm
Affected Areas: 46-76 Salisbury Street, 35 York Street and all of Clark Street (see map below)
The water may be reconnected earlier, so please turn off all taps to prevent flooding.
We advise residents to store some water (e.g., fill kettles) as a precaution.
If bad weather prevents the work, it will be postponed to the next day or a new notice will be issued.
Resident Access
The closure of Salisbury Street will be during the daytime hours only, and open to through traffic overnight. Resident access will be maintained throughout this period.
Traffic Management
Please take note and follow the temporary traffic management each day, as it may change daily.
All excavations will be fenced off and covered at the end of each day. Please take care and obey the temporary speed limits and fenced-off areas.
We aim to keep any disruption to a minimum.
