Management of Water Assets
Horowhenua District Council has a programme of works to renew the water network. As the network ages, more leaks and fractures occur. We use CCTV and pressure testing analysis to test the condition of the network, then we work in with the team that carries out road and footpath upgrades and renewals – work is timed to prevent the roads and footpaths from being dug up multiple times, to reduce costs.
Water Demand Management
In 2018, Council installed new water demand and pressure management systems to its water networks in Levin, Foxton, Foxton Beach and Shannon. The project reduces leakage and wear and tear on the water supply network.
