Water Conservation Levels in place

Level 1 Water Conservation is in place for Shannon & Tokomaru from Friday 24 January 2025 until further notice. Level 2 Water Conservation is in place for Levin and Ōhau from Thursday 23 January 2025 until further notice. Water Conservation Level 2 remains in place for Foxton and Foxton Beach until further notice.

Foxton Beach unsuitable for swimming - 20 February 2025

Horizons Regional Council monitor water quality for our district and have a 'Unsuitable for swimming' warning currently in place for Foxton Beach. The warning includes swimming, water activities and kai collection. Another sample will be taken at Foxton Beach today - keep an eye on the LAWA website (Land, Air, Water Aotearoa) for any updates.

What's a Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP)?

Council's required by the Waste Minimisation Act 2008 to produce a Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP) and review it every six years.

This Plan lays out specific goals, objectives, and targets for managing and funding waste management in Horowhenua from 2024 to 2029. These activities are comprehensive and are included in Council’s Long Term Plan to ensure the necessary resources are available.
