Levin Weather Event - 8 April 2025

Following the tornado which hit Levin at approximately 7.45am on Tuesday 8 April 2025, the focus remains on clean-up efforts and the ongoing needs of those affected. If you were impacted by this weather event, you may qualify for financial assistance from the Mayoral Relief Fund.

Mayoral Relief Fund Drop-in Sessions

April 14, 2025

Council has activated the Mayoral Relief Fund, originally established to support residents impacted by the May 2022 tornado. If you were impacted by the weather event on 8 April 2025, you may qualify for financial assistance from the Mayoral Relief Fund. We've scheduled three drop-in sessions for anyone who may need assistance with their application.

Proposed Plan Change 6A

Proposed Plan Change 6A seeks to rezone 22ha of land on the northwest of Levin from Deferred Residential (Future Residential) to Residential. This land is one of Council’s identified urban growth areas – known as Levin North West 1 (LNW1). Submissions close at 5pm on Wednesday 14 May 2025.

Proposed Dog Control Policy & Bylaw

Horowhenua District Council is reviewing its Dog Control Policy and Bylaw which set the local rules for owning dogs, providing them with recreational areas, and keeping people safe. Submissions close at 4pm on Wednesday 30 April 2025.
