Our Organisation Performance group encompasses both our Business Transformation and Finance practices. The Finance Team plays a crucial role in upholding the integrity of the Council’s financial systems. As the fiscal backbone of the Council, they engage with every sector of our community, ensuring financial compliance, transparency, and accountability in all our responsibilities.
The opportunity – the Senior Finance Business Partner role – will provide high quality, timely, effective financial advice, and advanced technical accounting support to the Financial Controller, the Executive Leadership team, Senior Leadership Cohort, and the organisation (including elected members). They will take the lead on key financial deliverables and business partnering.
Our Senior Finance Business Partner mentors and coaches our Finance Business Analysts in providing business partnership across the organisation. They ensure collaborative mahi with business units to facilitate the best financial decisions available which, in turn, creates value for the Horowhenua District ratepayers and communities.
He kōrero mōu - About you
As a seasoned Accounting professional, you will have a deep understanding of financial planning and performance monitoring in local government. With a strong background in financial analysis and modelling, you will provide insightful, data-driven advice that supports informed decision-making across the Council. Your expertise ensures financial sustainability, compliance, and strategic financial management.
Ideally, you have at least 5 years of work experience in a senior financial management position in a multidisciplinary environment with experience in implementing rolling forecasts and complex financial models. You hold a Bachelor of Accounting degree and are a Chartered Accountant with CAANZ membership.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment, with especial emphasis on Excel, is essential for success in this role. We’d also love a demonstrated proficiency in one or more accounting software systems, particularly planning and budgeting systems and contemporary reporting tools.
