Elections

Local elections, held every three years, are an opportunity for residents and ratepayers to vote for a mayor and councillors. A by-election is held if a seat becomes vacant.

In Horowhenua, residents and ratepayers get the chance to vote for a Mayor and Council, Te Awahou Foxton Community Board and Horizons Regional Council. The next local election will be held on 11 October 2025.
