Animal Nuisance and the Keeping of Pigs, Poultry and Bees Bylaw 2014
Horowhenua District Council's Animal Nuisance and the Keeping of Pigs, Poultry and Bees Bylaw 2014 was adopted by Council on 5 November 2014 and came into effect from 6 November 2014.
Purpose of the Bylaw
The purpose of this Bylaw is to:
- control the keeping of animals (including pigs, poultry, bees, horses and other domestic pets such as rabbits and cats) within the Horowhenua District to ensure they do not create a nuisance or endanger health;
- control the slaughtering of animals in urban areas; and
- enable Authorised Officers to manage animal nuisance.
This Bylaw does not apply to dogs and does not include Animal Welfare matters. Animal Welfare is dealt with by the Ministry of Primary Industries and the SPCA.
