For comprehensive, impartial information and booking service for the Horowhenua region and New Zealand, the i-SITE is your one stop shop for all things travel! Part of New Zealand's official nationwide Visitor Information network, the i-SITE staff based at Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō will help you plan your perfect holiday, journey or adventure, with great tips and local insights on what to see and do, current event information and help with bookings for New Zealand travel, accommodation and activities.

The i-SITE offers a full range of brochures and free and friendly information for all visitors and locals and can arrange bookings for all accommodation, transportation, events and attractions.

You can also check out the quirky range of New Zealand-inspired jewellery and gifts for yourself, a friend or for sending overseas.

Visitor Information logo. Shannon Railway Museum & Visitor Centre

Location: Plimmer Terrace (opposite the shops), Shannon - Open: Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 3pm.

The historic Shannon Railway Station now operates as a Museum and Visitor Centre. It's manned entirely by a team of local volunteers, managed by the Shannon Progressive Association and supported by Horowhenua District Council.

Built in 1893, the Station is the only one of its kind still open for the public to view and we're committed to its preservation whilst passionate about promoting Shannon and the wider Horowhenua to visitors both local national and international.

Come on in for a peek back into the history of Shannon and surrounds, or for a chat and cuppa with one of our friendly team.

The Foxton i-SITE is located in Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom, next to Foxton’s windmill De Molen. Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom offers you museums and exhibitions dedicated to the stories of this place, Te Awahou–Foxton, and the people who have connections here. The i-SITE visitor centre is part of New Zealand's official Visitor Information network and provides national, regional and local information as well as bookings for transport, accommodation and activities.

Foxton i-SITE is one of two i-SITES in the Horowhenua District, with the other being situated at Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō in Levin.

Foxton has it all – a beautiful beach, world renowned migratory seabirds at the Manawatu Estuary, great Cafés, interesting shops, recreational water-based activities, horse drawn tram, Flax Stripper Museum, MAVtech where you can step back in cinematic time, Whare Manaaki to watch Maori artists at work or try your hand at flax weaving.
