Water Conservation Levels in place

Level 1 Water Conservation is in place for Shannon & Tokomaru from Friday 24 January 2025 until further notice. Level 2 Water Conservation is in place for Levin and Ōhau from Thursday 23 January 2025 until further notice. Water Conservation Level 2 remains in place for Foxton and Foxton Beach until further notice.

Foxton Beach unsuitable for swimming - 20 February 2025

Horizons Regional Council monitor water quality for our district and have a 'Unsuitable for swimming' warning currently in place for Foxton Beach. The warning includes swimming, water activities and kai collection. Another sample will be taken at Foxton Beach today - keep an eye on the LAWA website (Land, Air, Water Aotearoa) for any updates.

Where are the Parks and Reserves within the Horowhenua District?

We have over 50 parks and reserves around our District. These range from the Levin Adventure Park, to scenic coastal or river reserves such as Horseshoe Bend Reserve in Tokomaru or Waitarere Domain. Council maintains these parks and reserves on behalf of its residents, to ensure that our District is a great place to live, work and play in.
