Burttons Track, Shannon Burtton's Track (Scotts Road to Mangahao Road) lies between Palmerston North and Shannon.
Cousins Ave Track, Foxton Beach This is a great track for mountain-biking. Turn left at the intersection of Nash Pde and Cousins Ave. Enter the forest at the end of the road and follow the track back to the start.
Ferry Reserve Track, Foxton Beach Enjoy the cool shade of this young forestry area as you meander along the grassy path.
Foxton’s Historic Walk This is an easy footpath walk. Start at Duncan St and follow the signs to all points of information.
Hydrabad Wreck Walkway, Waitārere Walk from either Waitārere or Hokio Beach past the wreck of the Hydrabad. Approximately 15 minutes walk from Waitārere Beach or 1 hour from Hokio Beach.
Mangahao Makahika Track, Shannon The Mangahao Makahika Track connects Burtton's Track, which lies between Palmerston North & Shannon, with the Arapaepae Lookout.
Palmer Rd Pathway & Foxton Beach Loop, Foxton Beach Palmer Road shared pathway provides a 3.5km off-road walk/cycle path along the northern fringe of Foxton Beach.
Papaitonga Scenic Reserve walks, Ōhau An easy 10 min forest track and boardwalk takes you to a picnic area and viewing platform to lookout over Lake Waiwiri. A 20 min loop track continues on to the southern edge of the lake.
Piriharakeke Walkway, Foxton Enjoy views of the Manawatu River loop and farmland while learning about the history of the area from historic signs and photographs along the walk.
River Loop Amble & Flax Walkway, Foxton Explore the history and culture of Foxton. A grassy track along the Manawatu River front connects Te Awahou Board Walk at the north end, the Flax Walk and the start of the Piriharakeke Track to the south.
River Mouth Trail. Foxton Beach Walk or ride the hard packed sand on the beach at mid to low tide, along the river and back to the surf club through parkland.
Sunset Walk, Foxton Beach Sunset Walkway showcases the internationally recognised and protected Ramsar site in the Manawatu River Estuary. Spot migratory birds, enjoy river views, watch boats and fishing at the Boat Club, or stop for a BBQ picnic at the boat ramp.
Tararua Northern Crossing, Ōhau One of four classic tramps in the Tararuas, the Northern Crossing links the Ohau and Waingawa catchments
Te Awahou Board Walk Take a stroll through the river’s riparian zone, pausing at the viewing platform to enjoy the tranquillity of the water.
The Foxton to Foxton Beach Connection This is a dedicated pedestrian and cycle pathway alongside Foxton Beach Rd. The actual pathway is 2.4km long but additional time will need to be added at both ends to enjoy pathways, parks and heritage within the towns.
Trig Walkway, Levin This popular spot is situated on private land and features walking and biking tracks and access to Tararua Forest Park via Kohitere Forest.
