Grants and Funding Events

We are hosting drop in sessions around Horowhenua, for you to ask any questions about which grant/s to apply for and to receive one on one support with your application for Round 2 2024/2025 Horowhenua Grants and Community Funding.

Community Events and Programmes Fund

The Community Events and Programmes Fund provides funding assistance for costs associated with community and social development programmes, one off celebratory, educational, competitive or exhibitive projects and events.

Horowhenua Major Events Fund

Organising a major event in the Horowhenua District? You might be eligible to apply for Horowhenua Major Events Funding, for support to run your event. This fund also provides for events which may not qualify as a major event but have the potential to transition into a major event over time.

Operations and Small Assets Fund

The Operations and Small Assets Fund provides funding assistance for costs associated with enhancing the community though the services or programmes they provide, administrative and operational costs and maintaining or acquiring minor assets.

Horowhenua Rural Halls Fund

This fund aims to ensure rural halls across the district are maintained to a safe and functioning standard.

Waste Minimisation Fund

The Horowhenua Waste Minimisation Grant is available to help fund start-up costs of a project that minimises waste in the Horowhenua District, by reducing or reusing waste that would otherwise go to a landfill.

Shannon Community Development Trust

The Shannon Community Development Trust provides funding assistance to the residents of the Shannon township for Community Development initiatives.

Creative Communities Fund

Horowhenua District Council administers the Creative Communities NZ Scheme on behalf of Creative New Zealand. This page contains information, criteria and forms for the Creative Communities Scheme.

Grant Successful Recipients

The Horowhenua District Council Grants Programme helps support community-based projects, programmes, and events that improve social outcomes for people living in Horowhenua.

Youth Empowerment Fund

The Youth Empowerment Fund provides funding to empower young people to enact positive change by assisting them in bringing their ideas to fruition. This fund also supports young individuals with development opportunities and goals.

Urupā Whānau Maintenance Fund

The Urupā Whānau Maintenance Fund is a contestable fund for small urupā of whānau aimed at supporting whānau to maintain the urupā.
