Please note: There is an all year fire ban on all Horowhenua beaches.
The Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 came into force on 1 July 2017. As a result the Rural Fire functions previously managed by Council transitioned in responsibility to Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ).
From July 2018 FENZ will become the single issuing authority for Urban and Rural permits but until then Council's Prevention of Spread of Fire bylaw remains in place.
