The Mayor’s Taskforce For Jobs (MTFJ) is a nationwide partnership between Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) that focuses on connecting young people with suitable training, employment and mentoring opportunities and helping remove any barriers to employment or training while providing a platform for job creation.

LOCAL is part of the MTFJ nationwide programme for rural communities, with a vision for all young people to be engaged in employment, education, training or any other positive activity in their community.

Although the programme focuses on young people aged between 16 and 24, the programme aims to help anyone with barriers to employment.
